Samsung Showcases Industry's First 5nm Processor for Next-Generation Wearables

The Exynos W920 is a new wearable processor from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in revolutionary semiconductor technology. The new CPU features an LTE modem and is the first to use a groundbreaking 5-nanometer (nm) extreme ultra-violet (EUV) manufacturing node, delivering the solid yet efficient performance that next-generation wearable devices demand.

“Smartwatches, for example, are no longer merely a fashionable accessory. They're becoming a bigger part of our life to keep us active, safe, and alert,” said Harry Cho, vice president of Samsung Electronics' System LSI marketing. Samsung claims that future wearables will be able to run applications with more visually appealing user interfaces and responsive user experiences while staying connected on the road with fast LTE.

Samsung's latest product, the Exynos W920, features cutting-edge 5nm EUV technology for the next generation of wearables. It contains two Arm® Cortex®-A55 cores for high-speed yet low-power processing, as well as an Arm MaliTM-G68 GPU that boosts CPU performance by 20% and graphics performance by tenfold over its predecessor. On a device's qHD (960540) display, the Exynos W920's improved cores and speed enable speedier app launches and a more engaging and eye-catching 3D graphical user interface (GUI).

Even with the newest features and developments, the Exynos W920 comes in the smallest package currently available on the market for wearables with Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging (FO-PLP). The Exynos W920, power management IC (PMIC), LPDDR4, and embedded multimedia card (eMMC) are all placed in the same package using a System-in-Package-embedded Package on Package (SiP-ePoP) architecture. Smartwatches may be able to accommodate larger batteries and have sleeker designs due to the processor's compact size.

Always-on-display (AOD) is a popular feature for wearables, especially smart watches, because it allows users to view the time, alerts, missed calls, and other information without having to wake the watch from sleep mode. Rather than using the main CPU, the W920 uses a separate low-power display processor, the Cortex-M55, which reduces display power consumption in AOD mode when compared to the previous Exynos model.

The Exynos W920 comes with a 4G LTE Cat.4 modem and a GNSS L1 for tracking speed, distance, and elevation during outdoor activities, allowing for seamless connected experiences on the go.

The Exynos W920 is the first CPU to support Samsung's new unified wearable platform, which was created with Google and will be utilized in the next Galaxy Watch model.

The cryptocurrencies USDC, LINK, and KNC are now available on Coins.ph.

Coins.ph, the Philippines' most popular blockchain-based digital wallet, has announced the release of three new cryptocurrency tokens: USDC, Chainlink, and Kyber Network Crystal (KNC). Starting July 16, 2021, Coins.ph customers will be able to buy, sell, and store these three tokens directly through the Coins.ph app.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of USDC, Chainlink, and KNC coins to our virtual assets platform,” stated Coins.ph CEO Nauman Mustafa. “This is the first of several repairs and changes we plan to make this year. While Coins.ph remains the Philippines' largest Virtual Assets Exchange, we owe it to our clients to continuously expand our goods and services to produce more value.” USDC, Chainlink, and KNC are ERC-20 tokens, which are a standard for creating Ethereum-based tokens. This allows them to use existing Ethereum wallets while still meeting their own specific requirements.

USDC is a stablecoin whose value is determined by the US Dollar. A stable coin is a cryptocurrency whose value is determined by steady assets, which reduces volatility. USDC was formed as a result of a partnership between Circle, a peer-to-peer payments technology company, and Coinbase, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges.

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that enables Ethereum smart contracts to obtain data from external sources. Any real-world data is provided, such as live weather, pricing feeds, and so on.

The Kyber Network Crystal (KNC) is the Kyber Network's native coin, which is one of the most well-known Ethereum-based decentralized exchanges.

“We are thrilled to see that Kyber Network's utility token KNC is now available to the Philippine community via the Coins.ph mobile wallet,” said Loi Luu, Kyber Network's CEO and Co-Founder. “Through the KyberDAO, Coins.ph users can participate in Kyber's governance with KNC.” While the tokens are new, the Coins.ph software is the same reliable mobile wallet that has been around for almost seven years. “The goal of Coins is to make bitcoin access simple and convenient for our users,” Mustafa explained.

To use these new tokens, customers only need to download the latest version of the Coins.ph app from the Google Play Store, App Store, or Huawei AppGallery. The USDC, Chainlink, and KNC wallets can be accessed by swiping left on the main wallet page. Customers must be Level 2 or have their ID and Selfie authenticated in order to utilize these cryptocurrency services.
