With 10 million units sold, the Playstation 5 is the fastest-selling PlayStation.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has stated that the Playstation 5 has sold more than 10 million devices around the world. The PlayStation 5 has been the fastest-selling system in history since its launch on November 12, 2020, continuing to outsell its predecessor, the PlayStation 4.

Additional milestones were achieved by SIE across their PlayStation Studio game catalog, including:

  • Since its release on November 12, 2020, Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has sold over 6.5 million units.
  • MLB With over 2 million copies sold across all platforms, San Diego Studio's The Show 21 is the fastest-selling title in franchise history. Since its release on April 16, 2021, the game has attracted over 4 million players.
  • Returnal, a new IP from Housemarque that debuted to critical acclaim, has sold over 560,000 copies since its April 30, 2021 release.
  • Since its release on June 11, 2021, Ratchet & Clank: Rift has sold over 1.1 million copies*, according to Insomniac Games.

The PS5 fiscal year prediction from SIE hasn't changed. Sony will offer a bevy of exclusive games, including a new God of War, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon Forbidden West. Battlefield 2042, DEATH LOOP, Far Cry 6, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits are among the widely anticipated releases.

“While PS5 has entered more households than any of our prior systems, we still have a long way to go as demand for PS5 continues to surpass supply. “I want gamers to know that, while we continue to confront unique problems throughout the world that affect our industry and many others, SIE is committed to boosting inventory levels,” stated Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The PlayStation 5 hit the 10-million-unit mark 249 days after its release, whereas the PlayStation 4 did so 271 days after its release. More than a year after their respective systems were released, both the PS2 and PS3 reached the same milestone.
