In the first half of 2021, Globe will install 641 new cell towers and complete over 8,100 site upgrades.

“Our clients in these provinces will benefit from increased call, SMS, and data browsing capabilities as a result of these extensions and site updates. We intended to improve our customers' mobile experiences not only in metropolitan areas but also in rural areas, as we promised earlier this year, to make them more inclusive and accessible,” said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, and Iloilo are home to the new Globe installations, with 31 in Pangasinan, 26 in Nueva Ecija, and 16 in Iloilo.

Furthermore, 364 site upgrades in Pangasinan, 362 in Misamis Oriental, 297 in Nueva Ecija, 275 in Negros Oriental, and 183 in Iloilo have been completed.

“Despite the travel and health restrictions imposed by the epidemic across the country, Globe has remained committed to providing customers with better and more engaging mobile experiences. “Those currently using 3G SIMs should update right now to a 5G-ready 4G/LTE SIM to get the most out of their call, text, and data browsing services,” Agustin added.

By the end of June, Globe had already achieved its goal of installing 600,000 FTTH connections in 2020.

For the past two years, Globe has been encouraging its consumers to upgrade to 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM cards in order to take advantage of the new technology's benefits.
