The Premium Lite plan was uncovered by a ResetEra user. Premium Lite is EUR 6.99 per month, compared to EUR 11.99 for the standard Premium subscription. YouTube recognized the new concept and indicated that it is currently being tested in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, according to The Verge.
“We're testing a new subscription in the Nordics and Benelux (except for Iceland) to give customers even more options: Premium Lite costs €6.99/month (or local equivalent) and includes ad-free YouTube videos,” a YouTube official told The Verge.
Premium Lite, according to The Verge, provides ad-free viewing via the YouTube app on the web, Android, iOS, and smart TVs, as well as the YouTube Kids app, but lacks services like YouTube Music, background plays, and offline downloads.
Premium Lite is now in an experimental phase, according to YouTube, but the firm is considering rolling out other choices based on customer feedback.
